Woman Finally Sentenced For Running Over Police Officer In 2020

In the spring of 2020 there were riots in Philadelphia. It was bedlam in just about every neighborhood. on May 30,2025 it was no different in the area of 7th and Chestnut Streets. Police were on bike patrol protecting businesses and disbursing large crowds.


Officer Antonio Nieves, was in the street with his fellow officers, when Angela Hall came zipping down the street, struck Nieves and dragged him with his bike down the street. Nieves was in critical condition and underwent many surgeries . His career as a police officer was over because of this.
Hall earlier entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault and related charges. She begged for forgiveness and said she was a victim of gun violence. She hid her vehicle and then called police the next day trying to report it stolen. She brought out the fact that she was a single mother into the court.


Hall was sentenced to three months in prison followed by a year and a half on house arrest. Judge Nicholas Kamau called her actions deceptive but said he things she is remorseful. Officer Nieves had with a dozen broken ribs, fractured vertebrae and sternum, as well as several other similar injuries.
