A Deeper Dive Into Explosions In and Around Northeast Philly and Lower Bucks County
by Alex Lloyd Gross
For the better part of a year, there have been sporadic explosions heard in Northeast Philadelphia as well as Lower Bucks County. The exact source has not yet been identified.
A local media outlet recently reported on this and alluded to the fact that these loud bangs were confined to the Bensalem area. That is not the case. It appears that most, if not all, of these explosions are confined to wooded areas that surround both municipalities.
This makes sense when you consider that there are no cameras in the woods and the wooded terrain provides excellent cover. Some people blame multiple homeless encampments. Late last year, Philadelphia authorities cleared a massive encampment along Knights Road. Dozens of shopping carts were recovered, and city crews removed truckloads of trash. People in Northeast Philadelphia as well as Bensalem have posted about the explosions on social media, and some have also reported them on the Citizens App.

Shortly after that cleanup, the explosions stopped for a while. Now they are back, and so are the homeless encampments. They have moved to the wooded area behind Franklin Mall and to Dunksferry Road, near Potter’s Field.
These are not mere firecrackers or M-80s. Video obtained by this publication shows an explosion in the woods, and they appear to be far more powerful than Class C fireworks. Authorities have stated that police in multiple municipalities have been advised of these incidents.
To date, there have been no injuries reported. Due to sound echo, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly where the explosions are coming from or who is responsible. Covert trail cameras, known as “hides,” can be strategically placed in the woods to help determine their origin. These cameras are designed to look natural and conceal high-definition equipment capable of capturing both still images and video. Anyone who hears this is urged to contact their local police.
