18 Year Old Mows Down Four People At Prom Party In Wissinoming

About 6:00 PM there was a prom party on the 4700 block of Marple Street. People were in the street and in front of the house. Music was playing, baloons decorated the front yard and people were festive. That changed in a few seconds as an 18 year old male drove down the street at a high rate of speed.

He hit tables, chairs trashcans, and four people. Three children and an adult. Then he took off. A father watched in horror at what happened and got in his vehicle to chase after the suspect. When he caught him on the 4500 block of Shelmire Street, the 18 year old needed medical attention. He would be under arrest in a few minutes when police could get there.

The 18 year old was an invited guest. Some of the witnesses say he came down the street in a Burgundy Chrysler 300. Some speculate that he might have been trying to show off in front of girls. The car went out of control. The following were transported to local hospitals in serious critical condition. According to Police Inspector DF Pace: Einstein Medical Center: An adult female and a 5-year-old girl.

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children: A 3-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl.

Jefferson Torresdale Hospital: A 4-year-old boy.

Four medic units were called to the scene and it was bedlam. The car hit with such force that the entire grill was knocked off . police could not say the charges that would be leveled against the driver until they are filed.

  1. 4700 Marple is NOT in Wissinoming!
    It’s more like Mayfair/Holmesberg, near Torresdale Ave.
    And we all know by now what lives along that Torresdale ave area.
    Besides, that car, a Chrysler 300, is a wellknown popular vehicle for a certain “type” of people.

  2. Get the story straight. You said 4 people were hit in the beginning of the article but you listed 5 people in the hospital breakdown. Which is it? Kind of a big detail of the story.
