NE Philly Used Car Salesman Gets Four Years In Prison For Swindling Customers
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Edward Scott Rock was a used car salesman and operated his business like every bad joke about a used car salesman. He swindled customers that came to him looking for Handicap accessible vehicles. Rock entered a guilty plead to one count of mail fraud in federal court.
Some of his tactics include selling the same vehicle to multiple people. He used forged documents stating that vehicles were ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible. Rock made money from un suspecting customers and hid the payments in family bank accounts, the US Attorney said in court filings
Rock took in over $2.5 million from more than 100 victims, over three years, the US Attorney said. His customers were elderly, people with disabilities and medical transport companies. In one instance, he sold one Ford T 150 van to 16 different buyers. He stilled 15 of them and the one customer that got the van got it with prper title. That little scam netting him over $330,000. The US Attorney said.
Rock will do about four years in federal prison He must forfeit and or pay restitution of just under $3,000,000 in addition to prison time.
