Police officer shot serving warrant in Philly

A Philadelphia Police Officer was shot once in the face after he tried to serve a warrant on a wanted person on the 4800 block of Knox Street Today August  6, 2018.  Police had very little information in what is going to be an incident with more questions than answers.  What is known is the suspect  was shot by police and is in critical condition.  The officer is also in serious condition as of 2;00 PM the suspect has not yet been charged and when asked if charges will be filed, Police Public Affairs officers tersely said “I’s under investigation, it’s all we have” and then hung up the phone.

A woman who ran out of the back of the house was shot once in the abdomen.  Police have “no idea” of  who shot her. She is expected to survive. She was in critical condition at Einstein Hospital.  Police did identify the officer at Jaison Potts, from the SWAT unit.  Mayor Kenney is said to have visited him. Potts was scheduled to have gone on vacation very shortly, before the shooting happened sources said. The incident happened just after 6:00 AM.  The original suspect who was being sought was not even home at the time of the shooting.
