Police said that speed was most likely the factor behind a one car crash on the 8700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard yesterday,  September 11, 2018.  According to police, Edwin Rodriguez of the 2800 block of Home Ave. was southbound  inner drive when he tried to use a crossover to go to the outer drive. Rodriguez lost control of his vehicle, hit a guide rail and then went airborne, coming to rest deep in a wooded area, striking a tree.

Firefighters worked for a time cutting back branches and brush to get to Rodriguez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened just after 9;00 AM.  The southbound outer lanes of the road were closed for an extended period of time.  There were no other vehicles involved and Ridriguez did not have any passengers in his car with him.  A future investigation will tell if there was a defect with his vehicle.
